Product Review: Carhartt Super-Cold Base

Published in the June 2017 Issue June 2017 New Products

When the thermometer drops well below the zero mark, and you’re standing up to your waste in snow, it’s nice to have a base layer that is designed to keep your body temperature from dropping.

Carhartt has designed its Base Force Extremes Super-cold Weather thermals for those who work and play in winter. Made from 8-ounce poly spandex blend with FastDry and 37.5 Technology, the Base Force Extreme not only is fast drying, but also eliminates odors.

Its smooth flatlock seams enhance comfort. Its tapered cuffs improve warmth. And the top’s mock-neck collar features a quarter-length zipper that will allow you to shed some upper body heat if necessary.

We found the Base Force Extreme to be best suited for the person who spends a lot of time standing idle in the snow. Although its design makes it comfortable to wear even when temperatures are only mildly cold, it could be too hot if your active to the point of generating a lot of body heat.

The tops retail for $54.99 and the bottoms retail for $49.99. For more information contact www.carhartt.com.
