Polaris RANGER Introduces All-New RANGER 1000, RANGER CREW 1000

July 2019 Feature

Dirt Toys ED—We had the opportunity to experience first-hand the new Ranger 1000 in the woods of Minnesota and we have three quick takeaways:

1)      While the RANGER XP is still the king of the hill when it comes to the RANGER lineup, the new RANGER 1000 is breathing down its neck. It has many of the same features and DNA of the XP.

2)      The cab is so much more rider- and passenger-friendly. Lots of storage and six—count ‘em six—cup holders. Nicer seats. It’s easier to get in and out of. Lots of storage—including under all the seats. It is just a nicer feeling cab.

3)      The 1000 has just that much more get up and go than the RANGER 900. It’s a SOHC design with 61 hp and 55 lb. ft. of torque.

Here is the official Polaris release.

Minneapolis – Polaris RANGER, the industry’s No.1-selling utility side-by-side vehicle, today introduced the all-new RANGER 1000 and RANGER CREW 1000, purpose built for farmers, ranchers, hunters, multi-acre homeowners and recreation off-road riders. The RANGER 1000 offers the ultimate combination of price and performance with added capability to haul more, tow more and last longer than its predecessor, the RANGER XP 900, the best-selling UTV of all time.

“When there is a big job to do, the new RANGER 1000 and RANGER CREW 1000 are the perfect machines to help get it done,” Chris Musso, president of Polaris Off Road, said. “They continue to build upon our legendary hardest-working, smoothest-riding promise. Hard working men and women need equipment that is as rugged and reliable as they are. Our new RANGER 1000 models have been engineered for work, designed for comfort and built to last.”

Engineered For Work

Featuring consumer-inspired improvements, the RANGER 1000 and RANGER CREW 1000 are designed to be the ultimate workhorse capable of getting the toughest jobs done. An all-new ProStar 1000 single overhead cam engine delivers 61 hp and 55 lb-ft of torque. Optimized to provide more torque at lower rpm, the newly designed engine and an all-new Pro-PVTi clutch system deliver smooth drivability at low speeds and allow users to get the most out of the class-leading 2,500-lb. towing capacity. The RANGER 1000 offers 12 inches of ground clearance and 10 inches of suspension travel to rise above obstacles and tame rugged terrain while the turning radius was improved by 8 percent over the RANGER XP 900, helping consumers get more work done faster. A cargo box that is rated for an industry-leading 1,000 lbs. is also one inch deeper, increasing hauling capability by 10 percent, and is equipped with multiple Lock & Ride mounting locations to add key accessories.

Designed For Comfort

For added comfort to work and drive all day, the RANGER engineering team has improved the rider experience with an additional five inches of entry and exit clearance and new cut-and-sew seats with 25 percent more padding. The all-new, one-piece chassis is 25 percent more rigid than its predecessor delivering a stiffer frame and a more comfortable ride. The newly redesigned cab has an industry-leading 18.6 gallons of in-cab storage featuring a massive glovebox, a 3.4-gallon lower dash bin, driver and passenger under-seat storage and up to eight cup holders. With seamless accessory integration across RANGER Pro Shield cab system components and a pre-wired three-position Polaris Pulse electrical system under the hood, the RANGER 1000 enables consumers to ride in comfort all day long, no matter the conditions.

Built To Last

RANGER is renowned for the longevity of its vehicles. A completely redesigned front end features a massive steel front bumper including Polaris Pro HD winch and plow integration that, in combination with a full-body skid plate, provides a total of 50 percent more protection from unforgiving terrain. A quick release grille panel adds to the distinct style and is integrated into the front of the RANGER 1000 for easy access to the radiator for service and cleaning, and a new high-capacity, round air filter has been conveniently located for easy access, inspection and maintenance. Longer-lasting, quieter and maintenance-free sealed suspension bushings come standard, and CV guards have been carried forward for additional A-arm protection. The new Pro-PVTi clutching system has been completely reengineered from the ground up with larger internal wear components to last longer and deliver improved drivability and control. Enhanced durability, protection and ease of maintenance make the RANGER 1000 stronger and tougher, no matter the task.

The RANGER 1000 and RANGER CREW 1000 come backed by a standard one-year limited warranty, further reinforcing the quality and durability it delivers. Available in three trim levels and a variety of colors, the 2020 RANGER 1000 and RANGER CREW 1000 have a starting U.S. MSRP of $12,999 and $14,399, respectively.
