The Commander family features a unique design and ingenious features that are functionally effective for those consumers who want a Can-Am side-by-side vehicle capable of both recreational and utility applications.

The Commander lineup has undergone a few changes for 2019, including welcoming two additional color options with Boreal Green and Carbon Black and Octane Blue for 2019 on XT packages (two-up and MAX packages).

Can-Am Commander Limited 1000R

The Commander Limited 1000R returns for 2019 with its proven 92 hp Rotax 1000R V-Twin engine, stellar Fox 2.0 Podium QS3 shocks and Triple Black finish.

Performance

- NEW 92 hp Rotax V-Twin engine

The powerful-and-efficient liquid-cooled, 8-valve (4-valve/cylinder) 976cc SOHC Rotax 1000R V-Twin engine now produces 92hp for ample performance and torque for both work and recreational adventures. Incorporating the Maverick 1000R engine and transmission air intake system (and additional driven pulley air intake) in the Commander vehicle contributed to the horsepower gain. The progressive throttle ensures power is manageable no matter the terrain.

Handling

- Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS)

The Tri-Mode DPS system features three modes (MIN, MED and MAX) allowing riders to select the desired amount of steering assist to adjust to the terrain requirements and to his riding style. All modes offer less assist at high speed and more assist at low speed.

- Visco-Lok QE

All DPS-equipped models come with the Visco-Lok QE calibration giving an even quicker engagement of the front differential. Can lock up to 100 percent with no rev or speed limiter. This differential, unlike some competitor’s differentials, does not have a speed or rev limiter.

- Fox 2.0 Podium QS3 shocks

The Fox 2.0 Podium QS3 shocks, front and rear, offer tool-free adjustments and 10- inches (25.4 cm) of travel and repeatable suspension settings for work and recreational use. A wide range of adjustment and provides noticeable changes in ride quality and handling without the complication of counting detents.

- 14-inch (35.6 cm) cast-aluminum offset wheels

The Commander Limited is outfitted with stylish cast-aluminum offset wheels. The offset wheels offer 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) per side for a total of 3 inches (7.6 cm) additional tracking width for superb confidence and handling on the trails.

- 27-inch (68.6 cm) Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires

Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires feature a rugged six-ply radial construction, yet are lightweight to cut down on unsprung weight. The nondirectional tires are very capable climbing and clawing across tough terrain and also absorb varying surfaces for a smooth ride and provide predictable cornering.

- Large hydraulic disc braking system

The Commander 1000R vehicles use dual 220 mm ventilated disc brakes with 32 mm hydraulic twin-piston calipers up front and a single 214 mm ventilated disc brake with 27 mm hydraulic twin-piston caliper on the rear.

Rider-Focused Design

- Garmin GPS

A premium Garmin Montana 650t touch-screen GPS offers a fully interactive program and a full-color screen to enhance any adventure.

- Sound system with four speakers, Bluetooth & iPod/iPhone connector with controls

The integrated four-speaker sound system, which is compatible with most major portable music players (including the iPod/iPhone), offers a USB port, an auxiliary input and a Bluetooth connector.

- 4,500 lb. (2,041 kg) winch

The Limited package uses the same 4,500 lb. winch kit that is included in the XT package.

- Half windshield

Exclusive to the Limited is a fully functional half windshield for a stunning look and windbreak.

- Rear net

The rear net, emblazed with the Can-Am logo, gives the Commander Limited 1000R vehicle a sophisticated look and acts as an open air cover for the rear of the cab.

- Heavy-duty front bumper

The Can-Am Commander Limited package wears a heavy-duty front bumper.

- Rugged bed rails

Cargo box rails provide additional locations to attach tie-downs for cargo carrying.

- Mudguards

Mudguards were added to the Can-Am Commander Limited wheel wells to enhance its look and to improve mud protection.

- Analog/digital gauge package

The analog/digital gauge package includes high-grade instrumentation. This includes an analog tachometer and speedometer combined with an advanced digital information center.

- Limited seat trim

The Can-Am Commander Limited side-by-side vehicle seats include unique trim for a sophisticated appearance. The seats have integrated headrests, side padding and are removable and freestanding, so sitting around at base camp is much more comfortable. The driver’s seat adjusts (6.3 inches/16 cm) fore and aft without the need of tools.

- Custom steering wheel

The custom steering wheel inside the Commander Limited has a center section with brushed-aluminum finish.

- Premium painted

A new menacing automotive-like painted Triple Black color scheme returns for 2019.

Can-Am Commander XT 1000R/XT 800R

The factory-installed, value-added package on the Commander XT 1000R and Commander XT 800R side-by-sides include a 4,500 lb. (2,041 kg) winch, cast aluminum wheels and two new color choices for 2019. All 2019 XT packages also include tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering, Visco-Lok QE and a dual-level cargo box for added convenience.

The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the engine’s performance at its peak, regardless of temperature or altitude.

Handling

- Torsional Trailing arms Independent (TTI) rear suspension

The TTI rear suspension allows the wheels to move rearward as they move up and down, producing a smooth ride. The durable rear end features 10 inches of travel (25 cm) and the large diameter rear, five-way preload-adjustable gas shocks for reduced fading.

- Double A-arm front suspension

The Double A-arm suspension is precise in all situations and terrain types. The front end, which features 10 inches of travel (25 cm), has the large diameter front, five-way preload-adjustable gas shocks for overall durability and better fade resistance.

- Front sway bar

The front sway bar uses a torsional spring design to counter weight transfers to reduce body roll and create an even flatter and more desirable handling experience. It attaches to the underside of the chassis and to the A-arms via a sway bar link.

Rider-Focused Design

- 4,500-lb. (2,041 kg) winch

A 4,500-lb. winch kit includes a roller fairlead. The winch is designed to handle heavy-duty loads at the work site and on the trail.

- Heavy-duty front bumper       

The Can-Am Commander XT features a front bumper that is installed at the factory. The added protection gives peace of mind in rugged conditions.

- Rugged bed rails

Bed rails installed on the Dual-Level cargo box give the XT a rugged look and add more tie-down points for cargo carrying.

- Mudguards

Mudguards run on the wheel wells to complete the premium look of the Can-Am Commander XT and give the driver and passenger further protection from the mud.

- Analog/digital gauge package

The analog/digital gauge package includes state-of-the-art instrumentation. This includes an analog tachometer and speedometer combined with an advanced digital information center.

- Custom steering wheel

A premium custom steering wheel is standard on the Commander XT.

- NEW Colors available

The 2019 Commander XT packages now gives consumers three color choices, including the new Boreal Green, Carbon Black and Blue and the exclusive Mossy Oak Break-Up Country camo.

Can-Am Commander DPS 1000R/DPS 800R

For 2019, the affordable Commander DPS family offers tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering, Visco-Lok QE and cast aluminum wheels.

Can-Am Commander 800R

The entry level Commander 800R is outfitted with all the unique engineering features that help the family of recreational-utility vehicles stand apart from their competition yet does so at a very accessible price point.

Performance

- Rotax V-Twin engine

The 71 hp liquid-cooled, 799.9cc SOHC Rotax 800R V-twin powering the Commander 800R has four valves per cylinder and is fed by a 54 mm throttle body and two fuel injectors. The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the engine’s performance at its peak, regardless of temperature or altitude. The progressive throttle ensures power is manageable whether in precise rock crawling or opening it up on the straights.

- CVT transmission

The Continuously Variable Transmission offers engine braking as well as High, Low, Park, Neutral and Reverse.

- Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC)

The maintenance-free, throttle-by-wire system teams with the 54 mm Bosch throttle body to produce smooth throttle delivery even if the driver’s foot is bouncing due to the terrain. The Commander side-by-side vehicle has a selectable Sport mode, which offers a fast throttle response for performance driving and ECO mode for a smoother ride with a more filtered power delivery.

- 214 mm disc brakes with twin-piston calipers

The Commander 800R vehicles use dual 214 mm ventilated disc brakes with 27 mm  hydraulic twin-piston calipers up front and a single 214 mm ventilated disc brake with 27 mm hydraulic twin-piston caliper on the rear.

- 11 inches (27.9 cm) ground clearance

The Commander side-by-side vehicle offers 11 inches (27.9 cm) of ground clearance for maximum performance for conquering challenging terrain.

Rider-Focused Design

- Dual-level cargo box

The Commander features the industry’s first cargo box with two levels separated by a removable, watertight panel. It offers the possibility to have an upper and a lower bed with a removable tailgate. The tilt-assist, dumping box has a 600-pound total capacity (400-lb. upper, 200-lb. lower).

- Comfort seats with sit-in fore/aft driver adjustment

Full bolster seats, complete with lumbar and shoulder support, offer segment-leading comfort. Adjustable fore and aft without the need of tools, the seats are designed to allow easy entry and exit of the machine. The automotive-type driver’s seat offers 6.3 inches (16 cm) of total adjustment. The seats are removable and freestanding so you can stay comfortable even around the campfire.

- Adjustable tilt steering

The steering wheel adjusts (a total range of 30.5 degrees) without the need of tools. The gauge pivots with the steering wheel for enhanced visibility.

- 1,928 cubic inches (31.6 liters) cockpit storage

The Can-Am Commander side-by-side family offers almost 2,000 cubic inches of storage in three separate compartments. That’s 1,050 cubic inches of storage in the glove box, another 799 cubic inches of storage under the fully adjustable driver’s seat and more in the center console area.

- 2-inch diameter, high strength steel ROPS and ROHVA-approved cage

The sturdy 2-inch (50 mm) steel cage meets Roll-Over Protective Structures (ROPS) industry standards. The Commander line of side-by-side vehicles is also compliant with the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA) standards, offering side nets, side shoulder bars and cage.

- Standard and performance D.E.S.S. keys

D.E.S.S. is the industry’s first standard anti-theft device. Electronic code in key must match code in ECM to start. The Commander family comes with two different keys. One is standard key, which limits top speed. The second key is the performance key that has no limitation on speed or power.

- 240-W lighting system

The Can-Am Commander family of side-by-side vehicles features exceptional lighting with 240-W in high-beam mode. The automotive-style projectors run at 120-W in low beam.

- 1,500-lb. (680 kg) towing capacity

An impressive 1,500 lbs. of towing capacity lets the Commander side-by-side vehicle family tow heavy loads.

- 2-inch rear hitch receiver

A standard 2-inch (50 mm) hitch receiver allows a standard vehicle towing bar and ball for added convenience.

- 10 Gallon (37.8 L) fuel tank

A large 10 gallon (37.8 L) fuel tank provides maximum range for work and recreation.

- 650-W magneto

The Commander electrical system can dedicate up to 300-W to power accessories thanks to a large magneto.

- Passenger handhold and grab bar

The Commander line of side-by-side vehicles offers two handhold locations for supreme comfort and convenience. There is an ergonomically shaped grab bar in front of the passenger and also a left-hand grip near center console.

- Maintenance break-in

Break-in is now standard at one year (1,500 km/932 miles).

- Easy-to-use maintenance center

Easily accessible and out of the elements under the hood, a centralized maintenance area allows access to the air box, radiator and coolant overflow. Fuses and relays are also easily accessible.

- Color Option

The Commander 800R is available in White.
