Putting the “A” In Your Adventure With Yamaha’s Adventure Pro GPS

Marking The Spot

For example, on our ride at Brimstone Recreation area in Tennessee, we came to a Y in the trail. We were able to mark on our Adventure Pro that we should go right at that intersection so that when we make our way along that same trail again someday, we’ll know which direction to turn. Another time we marked that we crossed a bridge/waterway. And we marked an especially scenic spot after taking a picture of it with the Adventure Pro. You have the opportunity to name the spots you’re marking on the Adventure Pro or there are some pre-determined labels.

Additionally, thanks to Magellan’s advanced GPS tracking, maps can be saved for offline use and users can continue to navigate, backtrack and receive off-road trail warnings and other guidance features—all without cell signal. Think of some of the places you ride without cell service and you can see why this is a handy feature.

Another of the features on the Adventure Pro is a customizable dashboard, meaning you can see vehicle activity on the screen. This includes rpm, gear position, 4WD status, vehicle speed, engine temp and battery voltage. Some thought it was a bit redundant because all that information is available on the side-by-side’s own gauges, but you can play around with the information and easily switch back and forth between screens showing that information and trails, etc.

If something were to go wrong with your vehicle, say it was overheating, a warning would come up on the Adventure Pro. Not only that, it will tell you where the closest Yamaha dealer is so you can go there for service.

The versatility and options are quite impressive with the Adventure Pro.

Pre-Wired

Select 2019 Yamaha side-by-side vehicles are pre-wired for advanced integration with the Yamaha Adventure Pro unit to provide advanced data tracking and vehicle feedback including speed, rpm, trail timing, coolant temperatures and more.

While the Yamaha Adventure Pro tablet has been optimized for pre-wired vehicle integration, it is not limited to just one vehicle. Navigation, social networking and other top features are available to a number of uses, from side-by-side vehicles to on- and off-road automobiles, say like your pickup/tow vehicle. That’s why we said earlier that one of the greatest features might be its portability. And when not in use on the trail or on the road, the device can also double as an Android-based tablet for apps, music, videos and more.

Is it tough enough for the trail? We believe so. The Adventure Pro features a rugged and durable case, which additionally provides waterproof and weather-resistant protection. When not connected to power, the Adventure Pro will have enough juice to last for a couple of hours at full brightness. Again, when not connected to power, the unit will last for up to six hours at low brightness. In sleep mode, it lasts 96 hours.

The all-new Adventure Pro is a Yamaha Genuine Accessory priced at $749, which includes a RAM mount, vehicle cradle, AC adaptor, vehicle power adaptor and Yamaha-exclusive software to further any adventure. The all-new 2019 Wolverine X2 and 2019 Wolverine X4, as well as the new 2019 YXZ1000R/SS side-by-side (SxS) models, are pre-wired for Adventure Pro installation, and provide advanced on-screen data tracking and vehicle feedback.

Adventure Pro is a nifty piece of technology and our few hours with it were not enough to explore all of its features. We think we need more practice to fully appreciate all Yamaha has done with Magellan on the Adventure Pro but our initial time with it was very impressive.

The Yamaha Adventure Pro powered by Magellan is available from Yamaha authorized dealers and online as a Yamaha Genuine Accessory at www.ShopYamaha.com.
