Kawasaki Teryx

Like a Pair of Favorite Jeans

3. Full Doors

The more we ride vehicles like the Kawasaki Teryx that offer full doors, the more we like that feature. Half (or sometimes what we consider are more like quarter) doors or nets just don’t offer the protection full doors do. On our most recent ride, we went through a couple of creeks, along several muddy stretches of trail and on trails with a fair amount of debris, like sticks and rocks, that were all kept at bay because the water, mud and debris couldn’t get into the cab thanks to the doors. It’s more than just keeping the cab clean; it’s also nice to not have to deal with any of those things on a ride.

And since most of our riding is high desert as well as mountain trails, we ride in many of the same conditions time after time.

The stock roof is a nice addition as well, especially when the sun is out and blazing down.

800 V-Twin Engine

The 783cc V-twin offers good horsepower and plenty of torque, which really shined on the trails around Howe. No, the Teryx is not the most powerful vehicle out there and maybe even in its class but it most all the conditions we have ever put it in, it pulled us through. Admittedly, there were a couple of steep climbs in the Howe area that really taxed the engine but it was mostly at elevation (above 7,000 feet or thereabouts).

Another nice feature about the V-twin is the lack of vibration, especially at the steering wheel. Not a huge deal but nice nonetheless.

So are there any flaws or issues with our favorite pair of jeans/Teryx? Yes, but the list of likes is far bigger than the list of dislikes.

We wish there were more travel (8 inches front; 8.3 inches rear) but do like the Fox Podium shocks. There was a time or two more travel would have been appreciated.

Again, we know what to expect, though, just like when we slip on our favorite blue jeans.

We know what to expect. The same goes for the Teryx Camo.
