Poison Spider: Perfect Ending To A Perfect Trip

April 2017 Feature

Dustin Sweeten, owner of Powerhouse Motorsports and organizer of the annual Powerhouse/KYMCO Moab Rally picked a dandy trail for our final day of riding.

Poison Spider, rated a 7 on the difficulty scale, depending on whose scale you use, has some fun and difficult obstacles (The Waterfall and Wedgy are two favorites) and offers some great views of the surrounding slick rock, desert, Colorado River canyon and mountains. There are even a few high-speed stretches of trail where you can crack open the throttle. Also, there is a small sandy area where off-roaders can play.

Poison Spider offers a little bit of everything but one natural feature you can access from this trail that many others in the Moab area don’t have is an arch. Little Arch is on the edge—literally—of the rock mountain, which drops pretty much straight down to the Colorado River below. You can walk out on the arch but it takes some nerve to do so.

The trail was a perfect ending to three days of riding in one of the best and most fun areas to ride anywhere you can off-road.
