Can-Am 2017 Lineup Focuses On Performance, Specialized Use, Value

Valcourt, Quebec – BRP introduced today its most complete lineup of Can-Am Off-Road vehicles to date. The 2017 Can-Am ATV and side-by-side lineup features new models with more specialized packages and enhanced performance, along with multiple new entry-level options, further solidifying Can-Am leadership in the industry.

“We’ve optimized the 2017 Can-Am Off-Road lineup to benefit both our dealer network and customers,” said Anne Bélec, SVP Global Brand, Communications and PAC at BRP. “This includes introducing more specialized vehicles to the portfolio while at the same time scaling back in some areas. These changes reflect our commitment to expand the Can-Am Off-Road lineup while staying true to our brand DNA, which is grounded in performance and innovation.”

3 New Side-By-Side Models For 2017

First, Can-Am developed in close collaboration with expert hunters, an all-new Can-Am Defender Mossy Oak Hunting Edition that features a purpose-built, industry-exclusive, hunting ready package with exclusive Mossy Oak Break-Up Country camo. This new package, along with the 2017 Defender MAX family unveiled in March, gives Can-Am a better footprint in the hunting segment of the industry.

Additionally, Can-Am further cements itself as an industry leader in the side-by-side mud segment with an all-new, four-person Can-Am Maverick MAX X mr 1000R side-by-side vehicle built to outperform in even the most demanding settings. Also new as a new point-of-entry into the Maverick lineup in the 60-inch family is the Maverick xc 1000R side-by-side vehicle, which is offered starting at $15,699 USD.

The 2017 Can-Am ATV Lineup

Outlander and Outlander L side-by-side models are now unified under the Outlander name, creating one family that offers the most horsepower in the industry in every engine class. The 2017 Outlander 450 ATV starts at just $5,999 USD, making it the most affordable Outlander vehicle ever. Also new are the Outlander XT 570 and Outlander MAX XT 570 models, which are the most equipped mid-size ATVs on the market for the price. Rounding out the changes is a new Outlander 6x6 DPS 650 model as the new point-of-entry price in the 6x6 ATV category.

Other notable changes in the Can-Am ATV lineup include the addition of a Can-Am Renegade X mr 570 vehicle, purpose-built for mud, and an Outlander Mossy Oak Hunting Edition 1000R ATV. The Mossy Oak Hunting Edition is the flagship Can-Am ATV for hunters with its superior performance, capability and camouflage design. The Can-Am DS 70 ATV also returns the lineup and is suitable for riders six years of age and older.

To bolster Can-Am Off-Road performance in 2017, all-new Fox Podium QS3 shocks come standard on nine Can-Am side-by-side vehicles and four Can-Am ATVs. Additionally, the Maverick Turbo vehicle now shares the successful technologies of its CVT with Quick Response System (QRS) with the new Maverick X mr and new Maverick MAX X mr side-by-side vehicles. All Can-Am Commander and Maverick side-by-side models also come with a new front sway bar for 2017.

Can-Am Side-By-Side Vehicles

The engineering, design and marketing product teams were tasked with raising the game for Can-Am Off-Road. In effort to improve upon the Can-Am side-by-side’s already impressive family and industry influence, the team chose to offer new packages, bring improvements to the entire lineup and also introduce new attractive color schemes.

Building on the successful launch of the Can-Am Defender utility-recreational side-by-side family and the most recent March launch of the six-passenger Defender MAX vehicle, the all-new Can-Am Defender Mossy Oak Hunting Edition package is now the gold standard for avid outdoorsmen. The fully functional, field-ready and Mossy Oak Pro-Staff-approved hunting side-by-side vehicle complete with integrated protection elements and rider-focused amenities.

A new woods-and-trail specific Maverick xc package joins the Maverick family of sport-rec side-by-side vehicles for 2017. Dressed in yellow, the 60-inch wide Maverick vehicle is agile, compliant with most trails system and is outfitted with many of the side-by-side family performance traits, but comes in at an attractive price point at only $15,699 USD (US only).

Further magnifying the brand’s industry leadership in the mud-riding category, Can-Am introduces the impressive, four-seat Maverick MAX X mr 1000R to its side-by-side line of off-road vehicles. Complete with the same factory-installed, mud-specific attributes as the two-seat Maverick X mr vehicle, the MAX X mr side-by-side has four seats, a 29.5- inch longer wheelbase, new 14-inch aluminum wheels and a QRS (Quick Response System) CVT for better performance in mud conditions.

Lineup Improvements

Fox QS3 Shocks

New for 2017, is the arrival of the Fox Podium QS3 piggyback shocks that allow for simpler compression adjustments. The shocks feature a tool-free adjuster and numerous fine-tuning ranges for exceptional ride quality. The new Fox Podium 2.0 QS3 shocks are featured on the Commander XT-P, Commander MAX Limited, Maverick DPS/Maverick MAX DPS, while the Fox Podium 2.5 QS3 shocks are standard on the Maverick X mr/Maverick MAX X mr, Maverick Turbo/Maverick MAX Turbo and Maverick MAX X ds Turbo vehicles. On the sportier packages, an additional Bottom-Out Control allows for less compression damping at ride-height to improve comfort and traction while giving huge damping at the end of the stroke to reduce harsh impacts.

QRS CVT

The Maverick Turbo now shares its successful Quick Response System (QRS) Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with the Maverick X mr and Maverick MAX X mr side-by-side vehicles. The QRS system allows for even better power transfer and faster engagement time while also reducing friction for longer belt life. The CVT ventilation has strategic inlets and outlets and a specific impeller design to created more cold-air flow moving through the pulleys.

Front Sway Bar

All Commander and Maverick side-by-side vehicles now wear a front sway bar that improves cornering stability. The system is designed to lessen the amount of weight transfer in aggressive cornering, leading to flatter and predictable handling.

Maxxis Tires

New Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires are now standard on the base Can-Am Commander side-by-side vehicle. The versatile, 6-ply-rated tire features a radial construction that leads to a smoother ride in rough, diverse terrain.

New Wheels

The Maverick X mr and Maverick MAX X mr will now wear an all-new 14-inch eight spoke wheel with a unique machined, aluminum-and-painted black finish.

Can-Am ATVs

The Can-Am ATV family, which offers class-leading performance and horsepower in every displacement category, has undergone strategic changes for 2017 to enhance its leadership as the specialized ATV brand. With riders in mind, Can-Am ATVs offer new packages, performance improvements, fresh colors and are as affordable as ever.

The Can-Am Outlander 450 is now the most affordable Can-Am Outlander ATV ever, coming in at $5,999 (US only). That unbelievable price is paired with the 38-hp Rotax 450 engine, giving it the absolute best performance and value in its class.

The Can-Am value-focused offerings also include the Outlander 570 XT/Outlander MAX XT 570 ATVs, the most equipped mid-sized ATV on the market. Available in either a one-rider ATV or a convertible two-up Outlander MAX platform, the mid-size ATVs include a winch, front and rear bumpers, handlebar deflectors and much more.

The new Can-Am Renegade X mr 570 ATV was born to own the mud and reinforces Can-Am mud-segment leadership. The factory-equipped, mud-ready ATV combines the traits of the successful Outlander X mr 570 and the Renegade X mr 1000R to create an attractive-and-affordable mud vehicle for 4x4 sport enthusiasts.

The ultimate hunting ATV has arrived with the unveiling of the flagship Can-Am Outlander Mossy Oak Hunting Edition 1000R ATV, which was developed in conjunction with the Mossy Oak Pro-Staff. Fully equipped to go in the wild and outfitted with all the necessary features to satisfy the needs of modern huntsmen, the most powerful ATV in the Can-Am ATV family also sports an industry-exclusive Mossy Oak Break-Up Country camo color.

An all-new capable Outlander 6x6 DPS 650 ATV comes complete with all the multitasking attributes the Can-Am 6x6 family is known for, but at a friendly price tag.

Re-establishing the Can-Am youth ATV portfolio (70/90/250), the Can-Am DS 70 ATV is for riders ages six and above. A new attractive Can-Am Red color scheme is standard. The youth ATV comes with integrated safety features, youth-sized ergonomics, a dependable four-stroke engine and sporty appearance.

The Can-Am ATV lineup also took on several enhancements for 2017. Improvements made by ATV engineering team were implemented with the rider in mind.

FOX QS3 Shocks

Can-Am engineers added new Fox 1.5 Podium QS3 shocks to the Outlander XT-P, Outlander MAX XT-P, Outlander X mr 1000R and Renegade X mr 1000R to improve upon the ATVs’ class-leading dominance and precision-engineered handling. The new shocks offer simple suspension adjustments for owners and feature a three-position tool-free adjuster to setup the suspension for a smooth and comfortable ride or switch to a high-performance handling.

14-Inch Aluminum Wheels, 26-Inch Tires

Attractive and fully functional 14-inch wheels replace the smaller 12-inch wheels on several units. The 2017 Outlander DPS and Outlander XT ATVs now wear black painted aluminum 14-inch wheels. The Outlander XT-P package now includes 14-inch black painted beadlock aluminum wheels while the Outlander MAX Limited ATVs wear 14- inch machined aluminum wheels. These specific Outlander ATVs will also sport new 26- inch ITP TerraCross tires with a 6-ply rating and a versatile interlocking tread pattern.

Both the Outlander X mr 1000R and Outlander X mr 850 ATVs also wear new 14-inch aluminum wheels, but retain their aggressive, mud-specific 30-inch Gorilla Axle Silverback tires.

New Rider-Focused D.E.S.S. Key A new Radio-Frequency (RF) Digitally Encoded Security System (D.E.S.S.) has been improved and redesigned on all Outlander ATVs with 650, 850 or 1000R engines and Renegade ATVs for simpler operation. Each ATV includes both a performance key and regular key. This revised setup also aligns with this current proven technology in other BRP brands. Can-Am remains the only ATV manufacturer to offer a factory-installed anti-theft device as standard equipment.

Can-Am ATVs remain at the forefront of the industry when it comes to performance and service requirements. All Outlander ATVs offer class-leading performance (HP) in every ATV displacement category, from the 450 class up to the big-bore 1000cc category. These same ATVs, along with the sport 4x4 Renegade ATV family and side-by-side vehicles, also offer reduced cost of ownership thanks to continually evolving service intervals, break-in requirements and routine maintenance schedule reductions.
