The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) has organized free OHV safety courses throughout the state to provide a building block style of learning.
Once registered for a specific course, you will be mailed a student reference guide that will provide the necessary information to pass the pre-course written test. After the written test is completed and reviewed, the interactive rider education will begin.
The lessons include pre-ride inspection, starting and stopping, quick turns, hill riding, emergency stopping, swerving and riding over obstacles. In addition, you will learn about protective gear, Idaho laws and regulations, Idaho OHV clubs, rules of the road, environmental concerns and places to ride.
Each course is open to everyone and is offered for ages six and up. Although the courses are free, your OHV must display a current registration sticker. Each person must use their own OHV and cannot share with another participant.
