Kawi T4 Shines On Maiden Voyage

May 2015 Powersport News Web Exclusive

It was pretty much the dead of winter when we picked up our Teryx4 side-by-side, on loan to Dirt Toys Magazine from Kawasaki.

Needless to say, we weren’t able to dial up many miles until the snow retreated and the weather warmed up a bit. We did take the T4 out for a spin a couple of times but nothing really long or very difficult.

Until this past Monday. We wanted to see how close we could get to Red Butte in the Big Hole Mountains of eastern Idaho. We made it to the bathrooms before having to stop due to deep snow. Anyone who rides the area knows where we’re talking about. So we headed back down the mountain toward Kelly Canyon Ski Resort. Instead of passing the ski hill, we hung a left at the Tablerock Campground road and went that way until we got to the Leaning Fir Tree trail, one of our favorites in the Big Holes. It is definitely a challenge in spots and once on top, the views are awesome.

The T4 did extremely well for its first real ride of the season—60 miles in all. The only small, kind of picky issue we had with the ride is the noisy drivetrain. The electric power steering is spot on, there was plenty of power for the trails we rode on and the vehicle had a great ride, both in terms of suspension and also in the cockpit, i.e., the bucket seats.

We can’t wait to head out again.
