Product Review: Fly F-16 Jersey

Published in the March 2015 Issue March 2015

We recently got the chance to wear and test Fly Racing’s F-16 race jersey at a new model intro in Southern California and this jersey served its purpose very well for our test driver. He noted that the jersey’s soft and smooth polyester, multi-panel construction is quite comfortable to the torso and arms when worn without an undershirt.

Whether in the heat of competition or toiling through the demands of a photo shoot in the desert or dunes, full or long sleeve coverage is a must and the breathable, lightweight F-16 is made for those extreme conditions. One of the design features that was most appreciated was the mesh ventilation panels integrated into the arms and sides. Even though the base color of the jersey was black, the ventilation from the  mesh panels dissipated unwanted heat, helping to minimize sweating as our environment was hot with 95-97 degree F temperatures and not a cloud in the sky.

The elastic sleeve cuff and comfort collar do an excellent job of keeping debris out with a snug yet comfortable fit and feel, all without binding or restricting motion and making it easy to put the jersey on and take it off.

The sublimated graphics used by Fly Racing on these jerseys allow for the highest quality fade-free graphics and, as a result, the F-16 colors and graphics are very sharp and eye-catching. Our jersey was the wild-looking Limited Edition version and just happened to be color-coordinated with the side-by-side that we were testing, making for a cool, clean look between drive and machine.

Even though we cannot attest to extended durability at this point, we did put the F-16 through the wringer with two days of continued G-force rubbing in a seat, sand pelting and next to extreme temperatures, yet it kept our tester feeling and looking good. We believe that this functional lightweight jersey that can be under-layered for cooler riding/driving conditions is a reasonable investment for $25.95 retail.
