Can-Am ATV, Side-By-Side Racers Earn Victories Across North America

Zakowski, Vachon and Warnia earn individual championships

Valcourt, Québec - Can-Am ATV and side-by-side racers competed in numerous racing series in North America and Europe, coming away with several wins and four individual championships. Zac Zakowski won two titles in the Iowa Short Course Series. Two DS 450 racers also won championships. Keven Vachon won the Courses VTT Pro 450 class Canadian championship and Jeremie Warnia won the European Quad Motocross Championship in France.

"Can-Am racers have had a successful season throughout the world," Jeff Leclerc, Racing Project Leader, Can-Am, said. "Recently, our racers have earned many victories and several championships. Jeremie Warnia, Keven Vachon and Zac Zakowski earning championships proves that Can-Am offers excellent, race-proven vehicles." 

Championships

Round six of the European Motocross Championship series was recently held in Dardon Gueugnon, France. Motoworks/Can-Am DS 450 Pro Jeremie Warnia won the EMX Quad championship for the second consecutive season with a dominant performance. Warnia, who won the 2011 WORCS Pro ATV Championship, had built a huge points lead heading into round six and secured the title with a convincing 1-1 sweep.

Can-Am DS 450 Pro Keven Vachon wrapped up the Courses VTT ATV Pro class title with second-place podium finish at round seven held in Saint-Marcel, Quebec. Vachon earned seven podiums and had four wins in 2013. Fellow DS 450 Pro Mathieu Deroy won round seven and finished runner-up to Vachon for the championship.

At round three of the Iowa Short Course Series, held in Chariton, IA, Zakowski Motorsports/Can-Am racer Zac Zakowski won both his ATV and side-by-side classes. The  victories earned Zakowski both class championships, one on his Can-Am Outlander 4x4 and the other in his Can-Am Commander 1000 side-by-side.

"I've been working really hard over the years to collect some championships on my Can-Am machines," Zakowski said. "It feels good to take home a double championship this year."

NEATV-MX

Can-Am DS 450 Pro Josh Creamer (BCS Performance) won both the Pro and Pro-Am classes with 1-1 moto sweeps at round 10 of the NEATV-MX series in Minot, ME. He was joined on both podiums by current Pro and Pro-Am class points leader and fellow DS 450 pilot Travis Moore, who finished third in both classes. In all, Can-Am DS 450 racers won six classes and earned 15 total podiums at round 10. The next round of NEATV-MX is scheduled for Sept. 28-29, at MX101 Moto-X Park in Epping, NH

WORCS

Dave Martinez (Murray Racing/Yoshimura/Can-Am) was the top finishing Maverick 1000R X rs pilot, earning fourth overall in the SxS Pro Production class, at round eight of WORCS in Milford, CA. Can-Am racers Gilbert Flores (Motoworks), James Hill (Team IMG) and Pablo Veglia (Del Amo Motorsports) finished fifth through seventh, respectively. Veglia currently leads Hill by one point for third place in the class standings heading into the finale.

Dillon Zimmerman (GPS Off-Road) earned fourth place in the ATV Pro class on his Can-Am DS 450. The final WORCS event is scheduled for Oct. 11-13, in Primm, NV.

FMSQ

Can-Am Maverick 1000R pilot Charles-Antoine Villeneuve won the SxS class at round nine of the Provincial Endurocross circuit of the FMSQ series in Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada.

MWXC

Can-Am Maverick 1000R pilot Matt Rowell won the 801cc+ class at round 10 of the Midwest Cross Country Racing series in Martinsville, IN. It was Rowell's second straight win and third podium finish in three rounds of racing with the Maverick 1000R.

AWRCS 7

In its Can-Am Maverick 1000R, Team Hendershot Performance won round seven of the American Woods Racing Championship Series in Clintonville, PA. The Hendershot team beat 17 other side-by-side vehicles to the finish line despite starting from row two.

"We now have the points lead with only one SxS round to go," said Larry Hendershot. "We believe it made a big statement that the Can-Am Maverick is the machine to beat."
