ITP Racers Earn Six Class Podiums At Big Buck GNCC

WORCS racers battle at Sand Hollow in Utah

April 2013 Racing

Team ITP ATV and side-by-side racers competed in both the 2013 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country series and World Off-Road Championship Series last weekend. ITP-supported racers won three classes and notched six class podiums at round four of the GNCC series held at Big Buck in Union, SC. Team ITP side-by-side racers also earned a podium finish at round four of WORCS near Hurricane, UT.

"Team ITP did fairly well at the Big Buck GNCC, winning three classes and earning a total of six class podiums," said said Pat McGuire, ITP public relations and race support specialist. "Team Jacks II's win in the XC2 Limited SxS class was very impressive. Pro XC1 racer Adam McGill did well considering he just missed third place by less than half a second. Our racers had a trying time at the Sand Hollow WORCS event, but it was good to see Justin Lambert podium in the SxS Production 850 class."

GNCC

In the highly competitive GNCC XC1 class at Big Buck in South Carolina, ITP Pro Adam McGill had a great race but missed the Pro class podium by .021 seconds. McGill, who currently sits in fourth place in the XC1 class points race, led a portion of the race and was the official racer leader after lap two. However, he dropped to third one lap later and then lost another position during lap four. A final push on the fifth and final lap came up a tad short for the veteran.

Team ITP racers Kenny Rich Jr. (24+ C) and Brian Schmid (Senior A/B 40+) both won their classes and also took sole possession of their respective class points leads after the fourth round of racing. Rich's father Kenny Rich Sr. took second in his Masters 50+ class to retain the class points lead. Brigham Patterson finished third in the College B (16-21) class and is currently tied for second in points with nine races remaining in the 2013 season. For the third time in four rounds, Samuel Williams earned third place in the 4x4 Open class using ITP tires and earned the final class podium.

In SxS racing action, ITP contingency program participant Team Jacks II won the XC2 Limited class on ITP tires and took second overall in South Carolina. Team ITP racers also secured two other top-five finishes at round two of the SxS portion of the GNCC series. Tim Farr took fifth in the XC1 SxS class, while XC2 Pro-Am racer Chad Jones also notched fifth place.

Round five of the GNCC series is set for May 4-5 at Park Mammoth Resort in Park City, KY.

WORCS

Round four of the 2013 WORCS schedule made a stop at Sand Hollow SVRA in Utah. SxS Pro Production 850 racer Justin Lambert of Cognito Motorsports was the top finishing ITP-supported side-by-side pilot. Lambert, who didn't compete at round three, finished second in his class for the second time this season and is currently fourth in the points race. Fellow Production 850 driver Sara Price finished fourth and sits fifth in points.

In the SxS Pro Production division, Del Amo Motorsports' Pablio Veglia finished eighth on his ITP tires, earning his second top 10 finish of 2013.

Round five, May 10-12, WORCS heads to Honolulu Hills in Taft, CA, for round five May 10-12.
