Rally In The Pines Expands To Three Day Event

October 2011 Powersport News, Travel

The organizers of the Rally In The Pines have announced that the rally will now be a three-day event in 2012. The dates have been set for Aug. 24-26, 2012.

All the favorite rides from last year will be offered, plus some new ones for ATVs, side by sides and motorcycles. For the first time there will be two "dirt bike-only rides" offered. Dirt bikes are welcome on all of the group rides, too.

One of the new group rides to make sure and take is the Big Bend Ridge Ride. It is a double track ATV trail through beautiful mountain forests and along the top of a ridge of mountains just southwest of Island Park. It is an extraordinary good ride. But it is one for experienced riders and it does have a 50-inch width restriction.

The organizers are working on having lunch rides that will include a stop in the middle of the ride for a western campfire lunch, complete with a marshmallow roast for the kids. These lunch rides would be to places like the top of Bishop Mountain where there is a fire pit and picnic area. More information on this will be posted soon on the Rally web site.

The Rally takes place each year on the weekend before the Labor Day weekend. And it is held just west of Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons. Rally Park is located in the Last Chance area of Island Park at the Buffalo Run Campground and RV Park. A map is on the Rally website under "General Information."

The hosts of the TV show PowerSports Adventures organize the rally, partnering with the Island Park Chamber Of Commerce and Dirt Toys Magazine. These three entities come together, along with many great sponsors, to make an incredible experience for everyone.
