Polaris India, an off-road vehicle maker in the Indian market, stated last week that it is mulling over the option of establishing an assembly plant in the country over the period of next 4 to 5 years. The firm is aiming to register a revenue of USD 100 million by year 2016. Polaris India is a fully owned subsidiary of the US auto maker Polaris Industries. The company launched its range of off-road and all-terrain vehicles in Mumbai on Friday, Oct. 14, in the price segment off Rs 2.78 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

Speaking to the reporters in Mumbai on that Friday, Polaris India Managing Director Pankaj Dubey, said, "We see significant growth over the next five years here and are eyeing USD 100 million revenue during the same period. We are a world leader in off-road and all-terrain vehicles and will dominate the market here also."

The assembly plant of the firm will be followed by a manufacturing unit in the Indian market, once the sales of the company reaches to a certain level. The current product line up of the firm includes ATVs, Polaris Ranger and snowmobile. The company brings these vehicles to the Indian market through CBU (completely built unit) route from US and Mexico. While further elaborating the range of company's vehicles Mr. Dubey said, "We will focus on the utility application of our vehicles in areas of construction, mining, farming, military and coastal patrolling."
