Looking For Grant Opportunities? Check Out NOHVCC’S Grant Opportunities Webpage

July 2019 Powersport News Duane Taylor

OHV maintenance, trail layout and design, trailhead development and any number of other projects require funding. If you have a project to complete, but are not sure where to get the funds, NOHVCC wants to help you get started.

Many “old hands” in the OHV community are well aware of the grant opportunities that are available, but others may not know where to begin. The following grant programs are a great place to start. All this information can always be found on NOHVCC’s website here.

Also, many states have OHV registration or other programs that can be a good source of funding for OHV projects. If you would like to find out what is available in your state, visit NOHVCC’s homepage, select your state in the “Find My OHV Resources” toolbar and find out who the state partner(s) are in your state. You can reach out to your partners directly or contact NOHVCC staff at trailhead@nohvcc.org for assistance.

Recreational Trails Program

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) provides funds to the states to develop and maintain recreational trails and trail-related facilities for both nonmotorized and motorized recreational trail uses. The RTP is an assistance program of the Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Federal transportation funds benefit recreation including hiking, bicycling, in-line skating, equestrian use, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, off-road motorcycling, all-terrain vehicle riding, four-wheel driving, or using other off-road motorized vehicles.

Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative

Yamaha accepts applications from nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations including OHV riding clubs and associations, national, state and local public land use agencies, outdoor enthusiast associations and land conservation groups with an interest in protecting, improving, expanding and/or maintaining access for safe, responsible and sustainable public use.

Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S.

The Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S. grant program was launched in January 2006 for ATV clubs, associations and grassroots groups. ATV riders and the trails they use are the lifeblood of the sport and Polaris Industries aimed to create a program to help. The T.R.A.I.L.S. program makes funds available to national, state and local organizations in the United States to ensure the future of ATV riding.

Right Rider Access Fund

The Right Rider Access Fund is a charitable, community benefit organization created in 2011 to support off-highway vehicle enthusiasts directly, by supplementing the work of the Motorcycle Industry Council, the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America, and the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association, and in other ways. The Fund’s charitable mission is to promote the safe and responsible use of off-highway vehicles and to preserve their access to appropriate lands.
