The UTV World Championship (UTVWC) has announced that Walker Evans Racing is returning as sponsor of the desert racing portion of the Polaris RZR UTV World Championship Powered by Monster Energy on April 5-7, in Laughlin, NV. In addition, the legend himself, Walker Evans, will be the 2018 UTVWC event Grand Marshall.

“Walker Evans Racing is a premier brand within the UTV and off-road industry,” UTV World Championship owner, Joey DiGiovanni, said. “Beyond the fact that they make superior shocks and wheels for both play and race vehicles, the brand itself is synonymous with racing. It's very exciting to have them back on board as title sponsor of the desert championship races at the UTV World Championship, and its equally exciting to be able to say that Walker Evans, the legend, will be our first ever UTVWC Grand Marshall.”

For 2018, Best In The Desert (BITD) has split the desert championship races at the UTVWC into two separate events allowing for the stacked field to break up and compete with fewer vehicles on the 17-mile loop course at the same time. Walker Evans Racing will title sponsor both of those events and provide special awards to the overall winners of each race.

“We are excited to return to the UTV World Championship this year as sponsors of the event,” Walker Evans Racing owner Randy Anderson said. “With so many of the top drivers and teams running Walker Evans Racing products, we want to be on hand to support them and the sport we have been a part of since day one. This is the largest UTV race all year long and Walker Evans Racing is proud to be a part of it.”

Along with having Walker Evans himself in attendance, Walker Evans Racing is also bringing all of their top team members into Laughlin a day early for a special Walker Evans Racing team gathering. For the first time ever, the entire Walker Evans Racing team will gather for a special photo shoot and team dinner hosted by Randy Anderson and the Walker Evans Enterprises management team.

“With so many of our top UTV race teams coming to compete at the UTV World Championship, we felt it was the perfect time to gather everyone for a special team photo shoot and party,” Walker Evans Racing team manager Reid Nordin said. “It's a great way to get everyone together in addition to simply showing these great drivers and teams how much we appreciate them and their support of our products and brand. We are a close knit company and we pride ourselves on building long term relationships with our supported drivers, this is just one of the ways Walker Evans Racing can say thank you.”

If there was a Mt. Rushmore of off-road then Walker Evans’ face would surely be sculptured. The legendary driver has won every major race and/or championship there is to be won within the off-road racing world at the highest of levels. To host Walker Evans at the UTV World Championship as Grand Marshall of the event is without question a strong statement that the UTV community and event as a whole respects our sports history and its iconic veterans who helped make our sport what it is today. Walker Evans will waive the green flag at the start of the event and be on hand for autographs and photo opportunities for all in attendance.

The UTV World Championship has become the go-to event for companies looking to showcase their products in front of the industry’s best racers, teams, fans and thousands of UTV enthusiasts. In place for 2018 is the return of the industry’s largest UTV tech and contingency in the front parking lot of Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort & Casino—where hundreds of the sport’s best brands are able to showcase their products while mingling within the festive atmosphere. The UTV pit crew challenge will also return as the finale of the day long tech and contingency.
