Terrific In Texas: Honda Pioneer 1000 LE

May 2017 Feature Web Exclusive

We just spent two days riding the new 2017 Honda Pioneer 1000 LE and Pioneer 1000-5 LE in the hill country of Texas and just love how solid this side-by-side is.

The 1000 LE rises above its other Pioneer brethren with terrific features like Intelligent 4WD, Fox QS3 Shocks, Hill-Assist Start, more in-cab storage and 27-inch radial tires on 14-inch aluminum wheels. It all, along with shared features like 6-speed automatic DCT and Sport mode, adds up to a fun, zippy and useful (in a lot of conditions) side-by-side that is as much fun to treat to a fun, sporty ride as it is to completing any number of work tasks.

We did both in the Pioneer 1000 LE. We used it for a fun night of hog hunting as well as to ride (it was more like a safari due to all the animals) the trails of the 18,000-acre Ox Hunting Ranch outside of Uvalde, TX. The Honda Pioneer had to endure some pretty tough terrain and situations during both the ride(s) and hunting trips. And it came through with flying colors.

We also used the Pioneer 1000 LE to explore the expansive hunting ranch to see all manner of exotic animals from water buffalo to giraffes to zebras Wildebeest to Watusi to Eland to kangaroos to turkeys to white buffalo to buffalo and the list just keeps on going.

We will have a full report in the July issue of Dirt Toys Magazine.
