Big Nasty Hillclimb Right Around The Corner

Starting on Friday, Sept. 18, thousands will come together near New Plymouth, ID, for the 13th annual Big Nasty Hillclimb, Idaho's largest motorcycle event. Besides 200-horsepower pro bikes, event organizers are also bringing back the Big Nasty Rodeo on Saturday night, Sept.19, along with the famous New Plymouth lawn mower drag races.

Monica the DJ is doing her thing on the musical side and there will be line dancing lessons on the new, Big Nasty dance floor. There will also be a dunk tank with beautiful girls and hot tubs return to the campground. And for kids, the infamous Orbiter Ride returns.

The schedule has been revamped this year. Most of the Stock and Semi-Pro competition happens on Friday morning. Pro qualifying, 4-wheelers, altered competition (on a brand new hill) and the 450 main and wild side-by-side X-climb will rage on Saturday, with the 700 and Open pro mains (and the heart-pounding King of the Hill Final running on Sunday.

Online registration ends at midnight on Sept. 14. Everyone except Pros can register at the event (on Sept. 18 for a higher fee) but why would you want to? This is the final round of the 2015 NAHA Pro HIllclimb Series and the 2015 Northwest Hillclimb Series.

2015 Big Nasty Schedule:

Sept. 17 – Thursday

9 a.m. - VIP and early camping pass holders, (not general public) enter.

9 a.m. - Pit areas open to Pro and trophy riders.

Sept. 18 – Friday

7 a.m. – Regular camping, spectator and front gate opens

9 a.m. – Big bike trophy classes climb

9 a.m.-Noon - Semi-Pro classes climb 

Noon - Rides, booths and attractions open 

6 p.m. Lawnmower drag racing 

7 p.m.-midnight – Country music by Monica the DJ.  Line dancing on the Big Nasty dance floor.

Sept. 19 – Saturday

7:30 a.m.-9 a.m. - Hill inspection and rider check-in at the hill 

8:45 a.m. – National anthem

9 a.m. – 450, 700 and Open Pro qualifying

9 a.m. – Snowmobile grass drags run all day

9 a.m. - Kids trophy classes climb

9 a.m. – Altered classes climb

1 p.m. – 4-wheeler classes climb.

2:30 p.m. – Drag racing lawnmowers 

3 p.m. – 450 Pro Main

5:30 p.m. –  Side-by-side X-Climb

6 p.m. – Big Nasty Pro Bull Ride

10 p.m. – Country music by Monica the DJ.  Line dancing on the Big Nasty dance floor. 

10:30 p.m. – The Big Nasty Fireworks Show 

Sept. 20 – Sunday

7 a.m.-9 a.m. - Hill inspection

8:45 a.m. – National anthem

9 a.m. – 700 Pro Main

Noon – Open Pro Main

2:30 p.m. – King of the Hill on the Big Nasty Cliff

Grass Drags

Other than online, all registration is done at the event, starting Friday afternoon.

The 1,000-foot course is a grass pasture.  Race 400 feet and use another 600 to slow down. No traction (cleats, studs, etc.) is allowed. Click here for a poster.

Snowmobile grass drags have been part of Idaho’s largest motorcycle event, the Big Nasty Hillclimb, since 44 sleds showed up last year.
