Published in the September 2013 Issue September 2013

American Honda has continued to introduce new 2014 models for off-road enthusiasts. Honda says that this ongoing infusion of innovative engineering highlights the commit- ment Honda is making to consumers, as more new models bring ever-higher capabilities across the board.

“For this 2014 model announcement, Honda is continu- ing its push to bring new and diverse machines to market while also delivering great value,” Honda powersports press manager Bill Savino said. “Here we’re unveiling a new gener- ation of our hugely popular FourTrax Rancher and FourTrax Foreman lines of ATVs with completely new frames, suspen- sion, styling and more for elevated levels of performance.

These new models, along with additional Honda favorites returning for the new model year, demonstrate Honda’s com- mitment to providing more choices to our customers, and we’ll be introducing more exciting new models in the coming months as Honda continues to lead the expansion of the powersports market.”

Here’s a quick look at Honda’s new off-road models.

FOURTRAX RANCHER SERIES

Over the years, Honda’s liquid-cooled fuel-injected 420cc FourTrax Rancher series has built a wide-ranging, loyal and enthusiastic following, thanks in large part to the multiple configurations that are available. For 2014, these FourTrax Rancher models feature an all-new chassis with a redesigned frame featuring new, longer-travel suspen- sion for enhanced rider comfort plus outstanding performance over rugged terrain. That new chassis is wrapped in all-new bodywork with distinctively aggressive styling.

The multiple choices in drivetrain styles remain. The 4WD FourTrax Rancher 4x4 ES features Honda’s highly re- garded electric shift program (ESP) that makes gear shifts as easy as pushing a button, while the 4WD FourTrax Rancher Automatic DCT features Honda’s dual clutch transmission (DCT), a five-speed fully automatic transmission that also gives the rider the option of ESP mode. The FourTrax Rancher 4x4 offers riders 4WD with a traditional manual- shift gearbox. The two-wheel-drive FourTrax Rancher is available with manual or electric shift and offers terrific performance at an extremely affordable price.

Most of these models also offer the option of electric power steering. FourTrax Rancher ATVs will be available this fall in Honda Phantom Camo, olive, red and orange.

FOURTRAX FOREMAN SERIES

For years, the FourTrax Foreman series of ATVs has carved out an impeccable reputation as hard-working partners that also know how to have fun when it’s time for a little recreation. Now that reputation grows stronger than ever as the next generation of FourTrax Foremans arrives for 2014 with an all-new chassis, suspension, locking front differential and styling.

As before, the FourTrax Foreman 4x4 ES boasts Honda’s renowned electric shift program (ESP) that delivers push- button convenience for shifting, while the manual-shift FourTrax Foreman 4x4 is the machine of choice for riders who prefer the more conventional gearbox. Both models can be had with the option of electric power steering.

The 2014 models will be available this fall in Honda Phantom Camo, olive, red and blue.

TRX90X

The TRX90X serves as the ideal starting point for intro- ducing new riders to the world of ATVs. At the same time, the TRX90X carries the same styling cues that place it right alongside its larger sport siblings as well as offering smooth power delivery and reliability.

Factor in the ease of electric starting, Honda’s durable automatic clutch and a refined suspension system, and you have the perfect combination for launching a beginner off to a great start.

The 2014 TRX90X will be available in September in red.

TRx250x

The mid-sized TRX250X boasts a distinctly sporty look with aggressive, race-inspired styling. Thanks to its torquey and rugged powerplant, Honda’s innova- tive and easy-to- use SportClutch and other great features, this versatile and fun- to-ride machine remains a favorite among olderbeginner riders as well as longtime riders.

The 2014 TRX250X will be available in red in November at manufacturer’s price of $4,499.

TRx400x

The TRX400X has earned near-legendary status among ATV riders and racers thanks to its performance, aggressive styling and renowned Honda reliability. Its 397cc radial four-valve combustion chamber (RFVC) powerplant has earned its reputation as a great engine by offering a combination of high performance and rugged durability. Adjustable long-travel suspension tuned for off-road versatility helps make the TRX400X a well-rounded package. Features such as a five-speed transmission plus reverse and electric starting bolster the fun part of the equation as well.

The 2014 TRX400X will be available in December in red.

TRx450R

The TRX450R has a long record of victories in the grueling deserts of Baja and a wide range of other ATV competitions. With its compact, lightweight, high-per- formance liquid-cooled 450cc fourstroke Unicam engine, the TRX450R offers impressive power. Fully adjust- able long-travel suspension front and rear get all that power to the ground, and allow the TRX450R to get the best of truly gnarly terrain. The TRX450R’s race-proven durability makes it a great match for recreational riders as well as racers.

The 2014 TRX450R will come in red and a special edition tri-color and will be available this September.
